Privacy Policy
Last updated August 29, 2026
ThereFor is operated by North Cape Advisors, LLC. This policy explains what the service collects, why it collects it, and who can see it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
What we collect
Only what the service needs to work:
- Your email address. Used to sign you in. ThereFor has no passwords — signing in means clicking a link we email you.
- Names you enter for the people in your family, including children, and any preferred names.
- Calendar addresses you add and the events fetched from them: titles, times, and locations.
- What you record in the app — who is going, who is driving, who needs a ride, and your notification preferences.
There is no advertising, no tracking pixels, and no analytics profile built about you.
Calendar addresses are encrypted
The address of a calendar feed is often a secret URL — anyone holding it can read that calendar. ThereFor encrypts these before storing them, and never displays one again after you save it, including to you. We fetch from them on a schedule to keep your events current.
Children’s information
ThereFor is built for parents coordinating around their children, so it necessarily holds information about minors — a name, and the schedule of activities they attend. That information is entered by an adult, is visible only to the people that adult invites, and is never used for advertising or sold. ThereFor is not directed at children and children do not create accounts.
If you believe a child’s information is in ThereFor without a parent’s involvement, email hello@therefor.app and we will remove it.
Who can see your family’s schedule
People you invite, and nobody else. Invite links contain a long random token and are not listed or indexed by search engines. Anyone holding a link can see the schedule it points at, so treat one like a house key — send it to the person you mean, and revoke it from the Family screen if it goes astray.
When you send an invite to a specific email address, only someone signed in with that address can attach it to an account.
Services we rely on
These companies process data on our behalf in order to run the service:
- Supabase — database and sign-in.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Resend — sending email, including sign-in links and invitations.
ThereFor also contacts the calendar providers you add, such as Crossbar, SportsEngine, or Google Calendar, to read the feeds you point it at. We do not write anything back to them.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information while your account is active. Removing a person hides them but keeps their past attendance so shared history stays intact.
You can ask us to delete your family’s data at any time by emailing hello@therefor.app. We will delete it, and confirm when it is done. Backups roll off on their own shortly afterward.
Security, honestly stated
Traffic is encrypted, calendar addresses are encrypted at rest, and access is restricted at the database level so one family cannot read another’s data. No service can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your information is handled, we will update the date above and let account holders know. Questions go to hello@therefor.app.
